Economic Opportunity

WIEGO proposes a five-year research project focused on influencing care economy debates in Brazil and India through participatory research with women workers in informal employment. The initiative aims to integrate their occupational health and safety needs into public health systems. In Ghana, WIEGO addresses regressive tax policies impacting women workers by using markets to understand the effects of presumptive taxation and VAT, facilitating negotiations for fairer taxes. The project is in its first year, working towards integrating women’s needs into public health and tax systems.
