Developing a New Generation of Women Legal Leaders in Africa
The University of Johannesburg’s Faculty of Law initiative aims to address the attrition of Black women in South Africa’s legal sector and promote their advancement. Through skills development, networking programs, and mentorship for Black female law students and early-career academics, it fosters connections with employers and legal associations. The initiative will ensure that 50% of Black female students access workplace readiness programs, mentorship, and networking opportunities, leading to better entry, retention, and advancement, as well as safer, inclusive environments for women and other marginalized groups in law
