GQUAL Campaign

The GQUAL campaign aims to fix the underrepresentation of women in influential international tribunals and monitoring bodies.

The initiative has helped to ensure that, as of October 2023, 43% of 624 international positions were held by women. A major achievement in 2024 was GQUAL’s influence on the drafting of General Recommendation 40 by the CEDAW Committee, establishing binding standards for women’s equal representation at the international level.
